In the past few months or so, I decided to ditch Windows and Install Ubuntu 18.04 LTS as my daily workstation on my desktop and it seemed that it pretty much grab all the necessary drivers that are needed and especially the Nvidia Geforce GTX 670 and it has been quite successful when using Ubuntu so far. The only problem is that my desktop currently is an Intel i7 First Gen at 960, I can’t use VMware Workstation Player 14 because is no longer supported, which to me it was a bummer.
As a the week went by and successfully moved to Ubuntu without any issues, I decided to install Ubuntu as well on my Lenovo Y50-70 which is an Intel i7 Quad Core with 16GB of RAM and of course a 960GB SSD since the back cover is pretty much stuck because of one screw is all messed up but no big deal. After installing Ubuntu on this laptop, everything seemed to work as usual and install what I need as a web developer.
It has been over 4 months or so since I ditched Windows 10 and I truly admired how things works and I am definitely satisfied. The only problem is that I am stuck with GIMP and I am trying or definitely trying to get used to the idea is free and is not easy to get use to since I mainly use Affinity Photo for Mac and Windows.
Software I used for my Ubuntu workstation
- Google Chrome
- Mozilla FireFox
- Libre Office
- Visual Studio Code
- VVV as my WordPress Environment
