Lately for the past year or two, I have managed to move over to Linux because not only it is free but it was more easy to use and less have to deal with updates when using Windows.
Windows 10 has its perks and eventually I still use it whenever I feel like too. I have moved all of my computers such as desktop and laptop to Elementary instead of Ubuntu and left Surface Pro 4 as Windows since I didn’t wanna mess with it.
Windows 10 is Slow On Older Hardware
Apparently this is true, Windows 10 runs slow when you install on older hardware such as if the system is either Windows XP, Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 in some cases. You could buy new hardware just to keep up to date with Windows 10 but it may cost more and also depends on how much is your budget.
As a professional Computer Guy, if you have an existing computer that isn’t fast enough but is good enough to do what you need, I would recommend upgrade the RAM if possible to the maximum and add an SSD and install Ubuntu, this will eventually help with performance and you don’t need to worried about hardware specs and slowness of the hardware.
Different Versions of Linux
Lately I have been using Elementary OS, works great and looks like MacOS, slightly faster than Ubuntu but it works very very well and I totally love the design and the time that developer as spend on it. My recommendeds when it comes to Linux OS is as follow
- Ubuntu 18.04 LTS
- Linux Mint 19
- Elementary OS
In general I pretty much use MacOS, Linux and Windows as my daily OS since one OS can do better than the other.
